Abstract

Interaction of drug molecules with exogenous substances such as metal ions is of significant importance from both physiological and pharmaceutical aspects of view. The effects of different variables on complex formation between ciprofloxacin and Iron (III) ions were evaluated and compared via facile modern statistical techniques such as Response Surface Methodology (RSM), Ruggedness testing, Factorial design and Taguchi method. Results of all methods were in relatively good agreement with each other and revealed that contact time of the reactants and pH may play more important roles in complex formation between ciprofloxacin and ferric ions.
